Imprints

The Enchanter beside the Divine Forge puts imprints on Enthroned gear: an Offensive, a Defensive, a Misc and an Apotheosis slot on each piece, what each imprint does and what it costs.

The Enchanter is the crystal altar beside the Divine Forge's furnace, in the smithy of the Nexus's market island, in its south-west. It puts imprints on Enthroned gear (Oryx the Ascended God's own items, which the forge makes; see The Divine Forge): small upgrades that stay on the item, through your vault, trades and the Marketplace. No other item takes imprints. Anyone can imprint their gear.

Slots

Every piece of Enthroned gear has four imprint slots, one of each colour:

  • Offensive (red): more damage on a weapon, more of the ring's own attack, speed and dexterity on a ring;
  • Defensive (green): more health and defense, or more of the ring's own defense, vitality and wisdom on a ring;
  • Misc (purple): an effect of its own, most of them for one kind of weapon, and four for rings;
  • Apotheosis (light blue): gear's last step, one for weapons, one for armour and one for rings, each making more of the stats your gear and boosts give you.

An item's imprints edge its slot, each a band in its colour framed in gold: one goes all the way round, two share it left and right, three take the top's two halves and the bottom, and four a quarter each, red at the top left, green at the top right, purple at the bottom left and light blue at the bottom right. Its tooltip shows its numbers with the imprints (in green where they change them), lists the imprints under Imprints and sums up what they change under With imprints.

Not every imprint fits every item. The damage imprints only fit weapons, as they make the item's own shots stronger; Vigor and Bulwark fit any gear but rings; rings have imprints of their own in each colour; and each weapon's Misc imprint fits only that kind of weapon.

Imprints work only on the item they're on, and only while it's equipped: +5% damage makes a weapon that hits for 100 hit for 105. They never change an ability's own effects. An imprint that changes your shots (the Gathered Shot's arrow, the Spearform thrust, the Battle Mage's bolts) shows them as Oryx's crystal Sigil.

Imprinting an item

  1. Stand by the Enchanter: the bottom of your HUD says "The Divine Workbench: imprint your gear". Press Open. The Divine Workbench opens at its Imprints tab (the forge opens the same window; its Imprints tab is here too).
  2. Pick a piece of Enthroned gear: equipped, in your inventory (or backpack), or in your vault (the Vault section lists the Enthroned gear in your own vault chests). Only the imprints that fit it show. Click it again, or Show all imprints, to look over every imprint of each colour and what it fits; the list scrolls with the mouse wheel.
  3. Pick a colour, then press Imprint on the imprint you want. A slot that already holds one says Replace: the new imprint takes the old one's place.

Apotheosis imprints go on gear in your inventory only: take a piece out of your vault first. For the Apotheosis of Balance, pick its three stats before you imprint: click Raise for the stat it raises, and each Lower for the two it lowers (each click moves on to the next stat). Imprinting it again with other stats costs it again.

Imprints show wherever the item does: in your inventory and bags, in the trade window, on other players' gear in their card (the players near you, bottom right), and on the character list.

What they cost

The Enchanter shows each imprint's price as a number and a shard. An imprint is paid in Ascended shards, of the kinds for its colour, taken from your forge storage first and then your inventory, and the kinds can be mixed:

ColourShardsPaid in
Offensive1Ascended Weapon Shards or Ascended Ability Shards
Defensive1Ascended Armor Shards
Misc3 (Guardian Angel: 20)Ascended Accessory Shards
Apotheosis5any Ascended shards

Each imprint's price shows under its button. Oryx the Ascended God (Oryx 5) drops the Ascended shards (see The Divine Forge).

Guardian Angel

Guardian Angel is the ring's last word. It takes the ring's other imprints off, and the ring's own stats become +20 maximum health and +1 to every other stat. In return, a death that would end your character sends you to the Nexus instead, as an amulet of resurrection does, and the ring is lost. A ring with Guardian Angel takes no other imprints.
