When a realm closes, Oryx runs. On this server you can follow him a long way: from his Castle through his Chamber, his Wine Cellar, the new Oryx's Sanctuary and the Hash Cellar to the Doomed Cellar, the end of the line. Every stage is harder than the last and drops better loot, and every Oryx's death is announced to the whole server.
The stages
| Stage | Dungeon | Boss | Health (solo) | How to get in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Oryx's Castle | Janus the Doorwarden | 70,000 | A realm closes, or an Oryx's Castle Key (300 fame in the Bazaar) |
| 2 | Oryx's Chamber | Oryx 1 | 100,000 | Portal from Janus the Doorwarden, or an Oryx Chamber Key (400 fame in the Bazaar) |
| 2, side door | Chicken Chamber | Giant Oryx Chicken | 90,000 | An Oryx Chicken Chamber Key (from Janus the Doorwarden (3%), 400 fame in the Bazaar) |
| 3 | Wine Cellar | Oryx 2 | 130,000 | Wine Cellar Incantation, in Oryx's Chamber and Chicken Chamber |
| 4 | Oryx's Sanctuary | Oryx 3 | 180,000 | Oryx's Sanctuary Incantation, in Wine Cellar |
| 5 | Hash Cellar | Oryx 4 | 240,000 | Hash Cellar Incantation, in Oryx's Sanctuary |
| 6 | Doomed Cellar | Oryx 5 | 320,000 | Doomed Cellar Incantation, in Hash Cellar |
Health is for one player. Each extra player nearby adds a share of it (25% to 35% of the base, per player, depending on the stage).
How the chain works
- A realm closes once enough of its events are beaten: 8 events with 1 to 3 players, one more for each extra player, up to 25. Oryx shouts, the realm's monsters vanish, and about 30 seconds later everyone still in the realm is sent to a new Oryx's Castle. You can also open the Castle with an Oryx's Castle Key.
- In the Castle, kill both Stone Guardians. Their death opens the way to Janus the Doorwarden, who drops the open portal to Oryx's Chamber.
- From then on, each Oryx leaves two portals when he dies, two tiles either side of his loot: a Realm Portal back out (open for two minutes) and a locked portal to the next stage (open for ten). The locked portal's name says where it leads.
- To open a locked portal, someone uses the right incantation within 25 tiles of it, in that Oryx's dungeon. It turns into the open portal for five minutes, and the dungeon is told who opened it. Entering the locked portal without one tells you which incantation it needs. An incantation used anywhere else isn't spent.
Inside a dungeon, the quest arrow always points at Oryx.
Incantations
| Incantation | Use it in | Opens | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wine Cellar Incantation | Oryx's Chamber and Chicken Chamber | Wine Cellar | Thanatos the Obsidian Dragon (10%), Nikao the Azure Dragon (10%), Limoz the Veridian Dragon (10%), Elder Snakepit Guard (5%), Snakepit Guard (5%), The Dragon's Treasure Cache (5%), 9 more, the Nexus Bazaar (125 fame) |
| Oryx's Sanctuary Incantation | Wine Cellar | Oryx's Sanctuary | Oryx 1 (4%), Giant Oryx Chicken (4%), the Nexus Bazaar (300 fame) |
| Hash Cellar Incantation | Oryx's Sanctuary | Hash Cellar | Oryx 2 (4%), the Nexus Bazaar (500 fame) |
| Doomed Cellar Incantation | Hash Cellar | Doomed Cellar | Oryx 3 (5%), the Nexus Bazaar (1000 fame) |
The drop chances are the listed ones. Your real chance is higher: each drop is rolled at its chance times one plus your share of the damage (so about double, solo), plus loot boosts.
The Chicken Chamber
A side door at stage two. A giant chicken has taken over Oryx's Chamber: fight through a coop full of chickens and eggs (break the eggs before they hatch, about 7 seconds after you come close), then the Giant Oryx Chicken itself. It molts at two thirds of its health, throws eggs and confusing star rings, and chases you with its chicks at a third. Like Oryx 1 it leaves a locked Wine Cellar portal, so a Wine Cellar Incantation takes you on. Its key, the Oryx Chicken Chamber Key, drops from Janus and is sold in the Nexus Bazaar.
Tips for each boss
- Stone Guardians and Janus: the Guardians fire rings; keep moving around them, not through them.
- Oryx 1 (Chamber) cycles minions, an invulnerable dance with rings and a spiral, his artifacts and his gaze. Below 20% he grows and chases you.
- Oryx 2 (Wine Cellar) calls his guards at 55% health, with silencing and weakening spinners, then fights faster.
- Oryx 3 (Sanctuary): first fight through his nobles and his court (kill the Deacon first: he heals the others) until the Sanctum's gate opens. When he shouts "KNEEL!", get more than eight tiles away, or you're stunned. At half health his three Protectors must die before he can be hurt again; after that his attacks get stronger, and below 20% he hunts players down.
- Oryx 4 (Hash Cellar) is Oryx 1's fight made harder, with Knights of Doom, six orbiting White Moons and a weakening ring he warns you about. The fires along the path burn anyone standing right next to them.
- Oryx 5 (Doomed Cellar) can't be hurt until the twenty Trees of Doom around him are cut down, and the castle's Stone Guardians stand with him. Then he cycles fire, a blade charge, star spirals and new Knights and Trees (each living tree heals him), turns faster below 60% and makes a last stand below 20%.
The loot
Loot rises with each stage: more stat potions, more Potions of Life and Mana, and higher-tier gear, from tier 10-12 at the Castle to tier 14-15 at Oryx 5. Potions of Oryx and the white-bag items are the real prizes:
- Oryx 3 can drop Oryx's Escutcheon and Potions of Oryx.
- Oryx 4 and 5 drop the Oryx set: Ring of Oryx, Oryx Hide Armor, Oryx Hide Robe, Oryx Scale Armor, Oryx Tooth Sword, Doom Dirk, Flying Doom Daggers and Tome of Noble Assault, in white bags announced to everyone.
- Oryx 5 also drops Doom Poison, the Sword of Dark Enchantment and the Crown.
The Dungeons page lists each stage's notable drops.
